Touring Update From Calexico: It is with great sad

Touring Update From Calexico: It is with great sadness that we share some personal news from the band. A close family member of Joey’s is facing a very serious illness. As a result, he and John have made the difficult decision to cancel all upcoming Calexico performances so he can focus on his family’s health.

The cancellations include Calexico’s featured appearance as part of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s holiday shows on December 13 and 14, and their spring 2026 European tour. The European headline shows will be refunded at point of purchase.

The TSO holiday shows will go on as planned, with our dear friends Orkesta Mendoza replacing Calexico, and it’s sure to be a wonderful evening of music.

This was not an easy decision, but it is unquestionably the right one. Nothing matters more than showing up for the people we love. Joey is deeply grateful for your support and patience, and the band looks forward to playing for you again once they’re back on the road.

We’re excited to announce a handful of very spec

We’re excited to announce a handful of very special European dates as a trio! Joey on guitar/vocals, John on drums, and @martinwenk on trumpet, lap steel, bass and guitar.

You can expect a different kind of energy with this stripped-back setup—more improvisation and spontaneous moments in intimate venues, and still with all the Calexico spirit you know and love. We’ve always wanted to try something like this, and we hope to see you there.

In support of the direct-relief effort for Western North Carolina through the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a live recording of “Across The Wire”, performed in Kalsruhe, Germany in 2023, is out today on a new benefit compilation album ‘Cardinals at the Window’. 100% of proceeds will be donated to BeLoved Asheville, Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, and Rural Organizing and Resilience.

Thanks everyone for an incredible European Tour this July 2024. It was a blast starting off in Italy and then heading over to France, Switzerland and Spain before returning to Italy.
